What is Amazon Luna?

Amazon Luna is Amazon's Cloud Gaming Service. It let's you play games on any connected device that you already own. You can connect Amazon Luna to your TV or mobile devices. Amazon Luna utilizes cloud infrastructure to power your games so you don't need a large tower or console to connect to your TV. Keep in mind Amazon Luna is in Beta at the moment so some things may change yet before release.

Amazon Luna Pros

Compared to a Gaming PC, Xbox Series X/S, or PlayStation 5 Amazon Luna is much more affordable. At the moment Amazon Luna subscriptions start at $5.99 a month with the controller costing $49.99 with an additional $9.99 for the clip on phone holder attachment. Amazon Luna can be cast directly to a smart TV with Amazon apps otherwise you will need to get an Amazon Firestick for another $39.99 or you can cast it to your mobile device. There are about 40 games available for Amazon Luna right now with more games being released for it at a rate of a several per week. Another thing to keep in mind is Amazon Luna is very travel friendly.

Amazon Luna Cons

Since Amazon Luna is a cloud gaming service you may experience some latency. I noticed this most when I had it connected to my mobile device. The game I was playing would slow down for a few seconds occasionally, but it didn't make the game unplayable, it just took a moment or two to get caught back up. My biggest issue with the Amazon Luna is that the controller is average at best. Compared to some of the newer controllers on the market the Luna controller feels a generation behind. The buttons and triggers feel okay but not precise. The general shape of the controller while similar to an Xbox controller is a little bit smaller. The grips taper to a finer point than Xbox does and this can result in fatigue for users with larger hands.
